Amazon expands free shipping with no minimum to every order this Christmas

Amazon is expanding a perk normally reserved for Prime members — free shipping with no minimum purchase required — to all holiday orders this year.

Here’s Amazon’s early Christmas present to you!

Effective November 5, Amazon is waiving the minimum purchase requirement on all orders during the holiday season.

This is the first time the company has ever made such an offer. Previously, non-Prime members had to spend a minimum of $25 to receive the free shipping.

While no end date has been announced yet for this promotion, the official press release from Amazon does note that it is a limited-time offer. So it’s probably not wise to wait until the last-minute to take the e-commerce giant up on its offer!

And if you’re already a Prime member, don’t worry — Amazon’s got something in its sack of goodies for you, too.

Existing Prime members will have expanded access to 3 million items that are now newly eligible for same-day delivery, according to the press release.

So, it looks like this holiday season is shaping up to be the season of free shipping!

Amazon’s move comes on the heels of competitor Target’s recent announcement of free two-day shipping with no strings attached — as in no minimums and no membership required.

Walmart, meanwhile, isn’t matching either Amazon or Target’s offer of free shipping — so far.

Instead, the nation’s largest traditional retailer is pinning its holiday retail hopes on another approach.

There’s a new roving checkout technology that will let Walmart associates ring you up and send you on your way from wherever you happen to be located in the store.
