What you need to know about Amazon Day

The e-commerce giant is launching Amazon Day effective immediately. This new Prime delivery option allows members to choose a day of the week they’d like to receive their deliveries.

Prime members can opt-in by selecting the free Amazon Day option during checkout and then picking a day. When you designate your Amazon Day, the company will hold back orders and ship items together to arrive on that day.

Amazon says this move will be good for you and for the environment. It will improve predictability of your packages arriving in a timely manner, and it will help the company to reduce shipping material waste as it aims to achieve what it’s calling “Shipment Zero.”

The Shipment Zero commitment will see Amazon working toward 50% of all shipments being net-zero carbon by 2030. The eventual goal is for all shipments to be 100% carbon-neutral.

But note this: The thing about Amazon Day is that you don’t have to designate a day if you don’t want to.

In addition, you can choose to identify your preferred Amazon Day but only use that delivery option selectively when it works best for your life.

And, of course, you’re always free to choose faster shipping for any orders where time is a critical factor.
