How Much Does Decluttr Pay?
The amount Decluttr will offer you for things like used CDs or an old phone varies widely by what the item is and what kind of condition it’s in. We pulled a couple of price points to give you an idea:
- 1-pound bag of loose Lego bricks – $1
- Samsung Gear Wi-Fi (smartwatch) – $8
- Amazon Kindle Fire HD 10-inch (5th Gen, 16 GB) – $10
- Google Pixel (32 GB) – $40
- Apple iPhone 7 (128 GB) – $109
- Nintendo Switch – $150
My Decluttr Review
Over the past 18 months, I’ve sold used CDs, DVDs and a small handful of Wii video games. All told, I’ve made $106 over the course of nine orders.
Here’s a look at my latest order:
Item and/or Artist | Best Offer |
Status |
Anthony Warlow – Complete Jekyll & Hyde | $0 | Damaged artwork |
Claude-Michel Schonberg – Les Miserables | $0.30 | Accepted |
David Bowie – Best of Bowie | $0.63 | Accepted |
Miles Davis – Cool and Collected | $0.05 | Accepted |
Cabela’s Big Game Hunter 2012 | $0.05 | Accepted |
Disney Tangled – Nintendo Wii | $4.04 | Accepted |
Mario Kart – Nintendo Wii | $4.87 | Accepted |
That 70s Show: Season 3 | $0.05 | Accepted |
U2 – Achtung Baby | $0.05 | Accepted |
Living Language Greek, Complete Edition | $0 | Staining/water damage |
The items you send to Decluttr need to be in good condition. Two of mine were declined recently because of damaged packaging. Unfortunately, you can’t request those items back once you send them.
With used media like discs and textbooks, you can enter the barcodes manually on the Decluttr website to get a price quote. Or, you can download the Decluttr app (available for both Android and iOS) and let it do the work for you.
But the beauty of the Decluttr system is that you don’t have to upload any pictures of your items or “list” anything in the traditional sense.
Once Decluttr receives the package, they’ll check the order and pay you. If you select direct deposit, you’ll get next-day payment. I usually have a paper check mailed to me, which takes a bit longer.
Best of all, there are no hidden fees or gotchas. This is one of the easiest ways to clear out unwanted media and get paid for it.

Final Thought
Hopefully this Decluttr review shows you how easy it can be to make money from what you thought was spare junk sitting in a drawer at home.
With the advent of streaming TV services and the likes of Spotify and Pandora, a lot of us have old used CDs and DVDs just collecting dust. Selling them is a smart way to extract some profit out of depreciating things that we’ve already sunk our money into.
Of course, you can always look around your home for other things to sell, too. We’ve got a guide to the best websites and apps to help sell your used clothing, collectibles, antiques and more here.
