Talk about killer fast food. A new study names the worst restaurant meal in America and it’s a doozy when it comes to being unhealthy!
The Center for Science in the Public Interest reports Long John Silver’s limited time “Big Catch” meal is the worst of the worst. What’s in it? 19 grams of saturated fat, 3,700 milligrams of sodium and 1,320 calories! It also apparently has more transfats than you should eat over the course of 16 meals!
Meanwhile, what are the best things to eat? The No. 1 choice is sweet potatoes. Other foods beloved for their health value include unsweetened Greek yogurt, broccoli, wild salmon, crisp breads, garbanzo beans, watermelon, butternut squash, and leafy greens.
Finally, there’s a new trend in desserts involving gourmet ice cream sandwiches popping up in white collar cities. As for ice cream, I used to eat a pint a day. Now I eat a pint a month.
Did you know there’s a way to prevent freezer burn on your ice cream? You simply take off the lid, put a piece of parchment paper on the surface and then replace the lid. Wax paper would probably work too.
