Mars issues candy recall in 55 countries after plastic was found in a Snickers

Mars Inc has recalled chocolate bars and other products across 55 different countries after a piece of plastic was found in a Snickers bar in Germany. 

‘We cannot be sure that this plastic was only in that particular Snickers,’ a spokeswoman from Mars Netherlands said. ‘We do not want any products on the market that may not meet our quality requirements, so we decided to take them all back.’

The recalled products

According to a report from Reuters, the products affected by the recall include Mars, Milky Way, Snickers, Celebrations and Mini Mix with ‘best before’ dates from June 19, 2016, to Jan. 8, 2017.

It is believed the recalled products were made in the Netherlands. Mars headquarters is based out of McLean, Virginia, and the compnay has a large international presence.

The company has not yet released the full list of countries where the recalls have taken place.
