A new study from the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) finds that 97% of kids meals are unhealthy.

Among the most egregious singled out by the CSPI study:

  • Applebee’s Grilled Cheese on Sourdough with Fries and 2 Percent Chocolate Milk has 1,210 calories
  • Chili’s Pepperoni Pizza with Homestyle Fries and Soda has 1,010 calories
  • Denny’s Jr. Cheeseburger and French Fries has 980 calories

We spend 50 cent out of over every food dollar, or close to it, eating out. So that’s why this becomes a very important point.

At the other end of the extreme, Chick-fil-A is completely reworking their salad menu. They are doing Grilled Market Salad, Asian Salad and Cobb Salad, all right around 400 calories. Gone too are dressings like Blue Cheese, Thousand Island and Caesar. Now they’ll offer Zesty Apple Cider Vinaigrette, Avocado Lime Ranch and Honey Sesame.

Their wraps are becoming much healthier too. And USA Today  reports Chick-fil-A will follow McDonalds lead and post calories for everything – including their decadent milkshakes!

So you will have the knowledge and then you will make the choices that feel right to you. That’s what I’m all about.
