Changes you need to know about

The 157-year-old retail chain announced it is changing its coupon policy to make pricing easier to understand — and it’s making clearance prices lower instead of allowing coupons for clearance merchandise.

‘Before there was a lot of math. Now, pricing is simple and clear,’ said a Macy’s spokesperson.

The chain had been testing different clearance merchandise strategies since last year and decided to implement this change, in addition to moving all clearance items to two locations in the store — the men’s department and the women’s department, according to CNN Money.

The store will still offer coupons for regular price and reduced items.

This news is on the heels of a difficult sales season for Macy’s due to the abnormal weather. Macy’s announced it would be cutting 4,000 jobs and closing roughly 40 stores in January, focusing more on its ‘Last Act’ clearance stores.
