MONEY-SAVING MOMENT: Every fourth year is special to different people for different reasons. It marks the time for the presidential election cycle and also the summer Olympic Games. And now, it also marks a Leap Year Day full of bargains for deal hunters.

Feb. 29 has become an excuse for service businesses, retailers and travel suppliers to offer special Leap Year deals.

According to The Sun Sentinel, you will be able to take advantage of flash sales that start at 29 minutes after the hour, $29 hotel rooms, 29% off whatever, $29 items — and the list goes on and on based on the creativity of marketers.

Walt Disney World is using the day as an excuse to have the Magic Kingdom open 24 straight hours starting the morning of the 29th. (Editor’s note: Why not 29 straight hours??)

A good way to keep up with all the deals that will be popping up is to monitor them on a site like DealNews.com.

Speaking of DealNews.com, I found a deal on there from Net 10 for those who want low-cost unlimited calling. Net 10 is currently running a limited time promotion offering $30/month for unlimited everything when you buy a participating phone for $40-$70 and enroll in auto refill for 12 months. After 12 months, the rate jumps up to $50.
