If you have an eligible Citi credit card, you may be able to save $15 on your next Amazon purchase — just in time for last-minute holiday shopping.
This offer is available only to Citi customers who have cards that earn ThankYou Points.
By following the steps below, I was able to score the $15 discount…
1. I linked the Citi ThankYou rewards program to Amazon
When I followed this link, I clicked on the “ThankYou from Citi” icon from the image below and connected my credit card account with Amazon.
Once your accounts are linked, you can use ThankYou Points to pay for your Amazon purchases.
2. I activated the offer to save $15
Next, I used this link to activate the Amazon offer. Not everyone will qualify, but this is where I confirmed that I could get the discount.
This is important: You must click on the button at the bottom of the page to receive the credit.
There’s a long list of terms and conditions, including one that you have to add at least $100 of eligible products sold and shipped by Amazon.com to your shopping cart.
3. After shopping, I split my payment at checkout
After I put more than $100 worth of items in my shopping cart, I headed to checkout. At first, I didn’t see the credit because one item wasn’t “sold and shipped by Amazon.”
I made a few changes to my list and tried again. The $15 credit was automatically applied as “Citi Holiday Offer.”
To get the $15 credit, you only have to pay a portion of your order with Citi ThankYou Points. I chose to apply $1 worth of the points and paid the rest with a gift card.
You could try to apply even fewer points, which I realize that I probably should have done.
Normally, I don’t use ThankYou Points on Amazon.com because they’re more valuable when applied toward airfare booked through Citi. I’m making an exception because of this offer.
MillionMileSecrets.com reports that you may need to enter promo code CITITURKEY5, but I left that blank and it worked.
This offer will end by February 28, 2019, when 40,733 offers have been redeemed or when Amazon decides to stop it.
Of course, it’s only a good idea to take advantage of deals like this one if you don’t carry credit card debt and aren’t overspending to get the bonus. Read more about Clark’s credit card philosophy.
