Nintendo games aren’t cheap.
If you or someone you know is an avid video gamer, you know what I’m talking about. At a regular retail price of $60 per game, the costs of being a Nintendo enthusiast can add up quickly.
But don’t fret. Amazon is here to lighten the load — at least temporarily — for Prime members with Amazon credit cards.
How Select Amazon Prime Members Can Save 15% on Nintendo Purchases
If you’re an Amazon Prime member who also has the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card or the Amazon Prime Store Card, you can get 15% cash back on purchases of Nintendo eShop gift cards for the next few weeks.
You can buy gift cards in the denominations of $5, $10, $20, $35, $45, $50, $70 or $99 through Amazon’s “Exclusive Prime Card Deals” section. While you’re paying dollar for dollar on the gift cards, you’ll see 15% in cash back rewards if you complete the purchase with your qualifying Amazon credit card. This promotion is good through July 5, 2020.

As you may have noticed, these gift cards are good only for purchases made at the Nintendo eShop. This means you’ll have to buy the gift card on Amazon.com and then use a digital code provided to make a separate purchase on Nintendo’s platform.
Some other key things to consider before purchasing:
- This is a non-refundable purchase from Amazon.
- The gift card is redeemable for games on the Nintendo Switch, Wii U or Nintendo 3DS family of consoles.
- While the card balance can be used on multiple Nintendo devices, it can be redeemed only by a single Nintendo eShop account.
- You won’t be able to use this gift card to buy cartridge versions of Nintendo games at retailers like Walmart or Target.

What’s exciting about this 15% cash back offer on the front end of the purchase is that it doesn’t preclude you from taking advantage of any additional savings that may be available via a sales promotion on the Nintendo eShop.
What You Can Buy from the Nintendo eShop
The Nintendo eShop is an online shopping platform for digital games to be purchased, downloaded and played on Nintendo gaming consoles, such as the popular Nintendo Switch.
A quick search of the Nintendo Game Store returns 2,877 game results that span different Nintendo gaming platforms.
Some of the more popular Nintendo Switch titles available for digital purchase with these gift cards include:
- Super Mario Odyssey
- Mario Kart 8
- Super Mark Maker 2
- Super Smash Bros.
- Yoshi’s Crafted World
- Pokémon
- Animal Crossing

On full-priced games, the 15% cash back would drop your realized cost from $59.99 to $51 (before taxes).
Also, Nintendo sometimes runs sales on its popular game titles. That’s an opportunity for even more savings. Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, for example, was recently on sale for $41.99 (down from $59.99). If you were to buy a gift card from Amazon and get the 15% cash back, that would trim your actual cost down to $35.69!

If you don’t have the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card already, it appears there’s still time to apply and take advantage of this Nintendo deal before its expiration on July 5.
Team Clark has tabbed this Amazon card as one of the top picks to consider for things like cash back rewards and grocery shopping.

- 5% cash back on Amazon purchases
- 5% cash back on Whole Foods purchases
- 2% cash back at restaurants, gas stations and drug stores
- 1% cash back on all other purchases
