This is a stunner if you’re a big Starbucks person. Do you know that one in five dollars spent at a Starbucks is spent using the Starbucks app on your smartphone?

Well there’s a problem. Criminals have figured out how to hack into your phone into the app on your phone and loot your account. They can do it again and again and again, And the in the worst cases, they use their gateway into your Starbucks app to then get into other accounts you have, and then have a field day at your expense.

So, a couple of things you need to know. This is a problem that has been going on for months with Starbucks. I want you to turn off “Automatic Reload” on your Starbucks app. When you run out of money on it, you need to manually reload it. Otherwise the criminals can just keep having a field day taking your money.

Second thing, if you’re inside a Starbucks turn off Wi-Fi on your smartphone. I have step-by-step for you on how to protect yourself with your Starbucks app on my guide at clark.com. Check it out. I’m Clark Howard.
