If you’re sick and tired of getting “robocalls” at home, there’s some hope in sight for you thanks to a new federal regulation.
Under new FCC rules, marketers will have to get your explicit permission before they can bombard you with pre-recorded automated calls on your home phone. This holds true even if you’re not on the federal Do Not Call list, according to USA Today.
However, political groups and non-profits are exempt from the new rules.
Meanwhile, ABC News reports one robocall outfit stole $13 million from people by pretending they would get interest rate reductions and balances reduced on credit card debt. Person by person, people were conned into paying $995 for these supposed services. In reality, the outfit just took the money and ran.
