One of T-Mobile’s unlimited data plans is getting cheaper. Starting July 24 and for a limited time, you can get four lines of service for $100 a month before taxes and fees.
The deal is for T-Mobile’s lowest-tier unlimited plan called T-Mobile Essentials. Here are the details:
- Four lines for $25 each per month
- Taxes and fees are extra
- Price reflects auto pay discount
- Get a Samsung Galaxy A71 for $5/month more per line
- Available to new and existing customers
T-Mobile Essentials is not a new plan. Prior to this deal, you could get four lines for $120 a month, plus taxes and fees. That means this promotion is a $20 monthly savings for a family of four.
The Essentials plan provides unlimited talk, text and data with 5G access, but it’s a step below T-Mobile Magenta in a few ways:
T-Mobile Essentials | T-Mobile Magenta |
Taxes and fees are extra | Taxes and fees included |
Mobile hotspot data only at 3G speeds | 3GB of 4G LTE mobile hotspot data |
No Netflix or Quibi included | Netflix or Quibi included with 2+ lines |
Talk, text and 2G speed data in Mexico & Canada | Talk, text and up to 5GB of high-speed data in Mexico & Canada |
Unlimited texting abroad | Unlimited texting and 2G speed data abroad |
There’s one more thing that I noticed in the fine print: “Essentials customers may notice lower speeds than other customers due to data prioritization,” T-Mobile notes on its website.
Also, as mentioned earlier in this article, Essentials customers pay taxes and fees on top of the $100 monthly price.
Bottom line: This new T-Mobile deal is a good one for postpaid service, but prepaid carriers like Visible, Cricket Wireless and Metro by T-Mobile have led the way with “4 lines for $100” promotions — plus they include taxes and fees.
