If you’re a loyal AT&T customer or if you’re looking for a good deal on a single line, AT&T’s new Value Plus plan could help you save on your monthly phone bill.

I checked out AT&T’s new plan to see what’s included and compared similar plans to help you decide if you should switch to AT&T Value Plus. You can check out the details below.

Get Unlimited AT&T Service for $50 Monthly

AT&T is offering a new Value Plus plan that money expert Clark Howard is excited about.

“AT&T, which is usually anything but a discounter, is offering a new cell phone plan for individuals that’s $50 a month for unlimited talk, text and data on 5G. It is a great deal!”

Here’s the catch: This plan is available only for a single line of service. If you have two lines, you could open two separate accounts and get this plan for both lines. However, if you have three or more lines, AT&T’s Unlimited Starter plan is the better deal at $45 per month per line.

Here’s what you’ll get with the Value Plus plan:

  • Unlimited talk, text and data in the U.S., Mexico and Canada
  • Unlimited texting from the United States to more than 200 countries
  • 5G access (if you have a 5G compatible device)
  • Standard-definition video streaming
  • AT&T ActiveArmorSM security including spam and fraud call blocking

“It’s a really simplified plan,” says Clark Howard, “but you’re going to have a $50 a month plan and not have to worry about having a bill get higher over time. It is a set price.”

AT&T’s Value Plus plan is available to new and existing AT&T customers. You can visit AT&T’s website and click “Other Plans” to get started. If you already have an AT&T account, you can find the instructions to switch to the AT&T Value Plus plan here.

More Ways To Save on Unlimited AT&T Service

If you want unlimited service on one line from AT&T, there’s only one other way to get a cheaper plan directly from the carrier: AT&T Prepaid.

AT&T Prepaid offers an unlimited plan that includes the same benefits of AT&T’s Value Plus plan. You’ll get unlimited talk, text and data in the U.S., Mexico and Canada as well as 5G access. The prepaid plan costs $50 on AT&T’s website, but you can get it for $45 per month if you activate your line at Walmart.

AT&T Prepaid also offers monthly limited data plans including 15GB for $40 and 5GB for $30. Both plans are also eligible for the $5 per month discount when you activate your service at Walmart.

Other unlimited postpaid plans at AT&T begin at $65 per month for one line with the Unlimited Starter plan. This plan is a better deal than Value Plus only if you have three or more lines. At three lines, the Unlimited Starter plan drops to $45 per month per line. Discounts continue up to $30 per month per line with five or more lines.

Another way to get cheap unlimited access to AT&T’s network is by opting for an AT&T MVNO:

The cheapest overall unlimited option from an AT&T MVNO is a Boost Mobile annual plan. It costs $300 upfront and includes unlimited talk, text, and data for 12 months. That works out to be $25 per month per line. Unlike AT&T’s Value Plus plan or AT&T Prepaid, Boost Mobile also includes 12GB of mobile hotspot per month.

However, if you’re looking for the cheapest monthly phone plan for one line with access to AT&T’s network, you can’t beat AT&T Prepaid or AT&T Value Plus.
