If you’re thinking about buying a car for your teenager, there’s some new guidance from U.S. News & World Report The magazine has released a study on the best cars for teens this year. The used vehicles on the list are great for inexperienced drivers as well as parents who may share the car, but these cars won’t bust your budget.

In this article, I’m going to show you the best used cars for teenagers, according to U.S. News & World Report.

The website looked at 2015-2017 models that had the best combination of safety ratings, ownership costs, positive reviews from critics and assistive technology.

Because of the current economic uncertainty, money expert Clark Howard wants you to be sure that any major purchase you make — especially right now — makes financial sense for you.

“Buying a vehicle is a major decision,” Clark says. “It is the second-biggest expense most of us have.”

For that reason, Clark says you should consider buying a vehicle right now only if the following two scenarios match your circumstances:

  • You’re confident that your job situation is secure.
  • You were already in need of a vehicle and planning on buying one.

If you find that you’re in a position to buy a vehicle, here are the best used options for teens, according to U.S. News & World Report.
