Are you a Yelper? Do you use Tripadvisor? Well, a lot of people who use Yelp and Tripadvisor have been getting sued by companies who are mad at them for what they posted.

Here’s the thing. If you’re going to post a review on Yelp or Tripadvisor you don’t want to end up in court right? So don’t say things that are ugly, that are jumping to conclusions. Stick to the facts. Telling the truth as you perceive it is always the best defense.

There are actions around the country — there’s even one in Washington — to give you protection about what you post on a review site like Yelp or Tripadvisor, but don’t wait for the government to do whatever they’re going to do in the legislatures. Do what’s smart, what will keep you out of court.

You have a bad experience, you post it, but be careful in how say it and stick only to what you can support, not what you’re saying out of anger. Keeps you out of a lot of trouble. I’m Clark Howard.
