Magazine industry highlights that change is the only constant


Yet another magazine has bitten the dust in its traditional print form. And therein you have a message about how you need to be vigilant in your life about moving with the times.

There’s been an increasing trend of magazines fading slowly into oblivion. First we had US News & World Report stopping the presses and going online only. Now the latest shoe to drop is Newsweek and their decision to go strictly digital.

Life involves continuous change. Technology changes how we do things day by day.

I am a dinosaur because I still get four physical newspapers delivered to my driveway each morning.

But digitally, I read so many more on my smart phone. That includes The Arizona Republic, The Boston Globe, The Chicago Tribune, The Houston Chronicle, The Cleveland Plain-Dealer, The Detroit News, The Detroit Free Press, The Financial Times, The Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, The New York Post, The Orlando Sentinel, The Seattle Times, The Orange County Register, The San Francisco Chronicle, USA Today, and The Wall Street Journal, among others.

If you listen to my broadcasts and hear me quotes things, it’s because of the digital that makes that possible. Traditional newspapers have no chance.

The speed of change is tremendous thanks to technology. You have to be willing to tear up the playbook and recognize how much things change. Today, education and training can never stop. You’ve got to get the blinders off and look at alternative ways of doing things.

Success today does not guarantee success tomorrow. Just look at Blackberry. They went from being the hottest thing 5 years ago. But today, they’re a real ‘not’ in the marketplace.
