In celebration of America’s creative power

A lot of people are feeling down on America these days. Our modern political process has become dysfunctional and it seems neither party knows how to act like adults. But in spite of all the pessimism, I still have faith in our country because of our entrepreneurs and inherent creativity.

Look no further than Cupertino, Calif., for a clear example of our nation’s candlepower. There you have Apple Computers, once given up for dead, with its founder kicked to the curb. But Apple roared back to life and is now one of the most powerful companies in the world.

From time to time, I have disagreements with Apple because they can be control freaks. But there’s no denying they’re a triumph of American spirit and ingenuity. Just look at the iPad, which has sold millions and millions and continues to improve with each version. There’s such a cultural cachet around Apple that I even saw fake Apple stores when I was in China!

Apple is not the only example here either. You could really think about any technology company, be it Google or even Netflix. Along with Apple, each speaks to the genius of American creative power.

So the next time you get fed up about Washington, or think our country’s best days are in the rearview mirror, remember this: We the American people are the secret sauce through thick and thin who have brought America back to a position of might and power, time and time again. Nobody can take that away from us.
