Destination: Cologne, Germany
About this photo: I am a graduate from the University of Georgia with a degree in Social Studies Education. I completed my student teaching in Cologne, Germany, where I lived for 3 1/2 months and loved it! In the background is the Cologne Cathedral. Construction on it began in 1248. The bridge in the picture was rebuilt after its destruction in WWII.
Best deal found: I was able to exchange currency for virtually no fees because of my account with Bank of America. They are a part of the Global ATM Alliance along with Deutsche Bank in Germany which allows members to avoid the $5 ATM access fee. This enabled me to take out Euros as I needed them, only paying the standard 1% transaction fee. This is one benefit I have had from a Giant Monster Mega-Bank.

Destination: County Cork, Ireland
About this photo: Mizen Head Lighthouse – County Cork, Ireland. I went home to Ireland with my family for my sister’s wedding. (I am originally from Ireland, came to the states in ’88). The weather was fantastic for late April. The sun was shining and the water colors in contrast to the lighthouse and cliffs were just incredible. In winter this is a brutal place to be, but beautiful on that day.
Best deal found: In Dublin – you have to try Bewleys of Grafton Street. Sitting in an oriental cafe, with a french waiter serving us salmon and having a great time on the second floor looking out at Grafton Street from then “James Joyce” deck. Good food, not too expensive and a real Dubliner’s hangout.

Destination: Wupatki National Monument, Arizona

Destination: Vega Baja, P.R.
About this photo: We found this gorgeous beach by accident! It is a public beach located in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico. The beach is surrounded by huge volcanic rocks which provide protection from the waves. This causes a very calm and clear swimming area safe for the whole family. You can enjoy the waves crashing over the rocks as the water cascades down over them.
Best deal found: Free parking across the street and if you are lucky you can enjoy watching some of the locals fishing with nets of harvesting shellfish. They will be more than happy to talk to you. Also, delicious “pinchos” a block away. “Pinchos” are meat or seafood skewers cooked by the side of the road. The pork and swordfish pinchos were delicious and affordable! You get a lot of meat/fish and a slice of local bread for less than $2/$3.

Destination: Hawaii
About this photo: This was a scene from the grounds of the resort I stayed in on Maui. It was magnificent. This pic doesn’t do it justice. I’ve been back since this photo and I can’t wait to go again.
Best deal found: When I went to Hawaii, I didn’t want to spend $80 on a Luau. So I consulted the housekeeping staff at the resort we stayed in. They directed me to a real Luau that the natives enjoy. The food was fantastic and all I paid for were the fish I ate…$1 each. Also, I went to the Salvation Army and other second hand stores for souvenirs.
