TRAVEL TIPS & TIDBITS

SFO Sights
Been there, done that? Try out a few new experiences in San Francisco:
Head to the newly opened Cityscape Bar & Lounge in Union Square. Set on Hilton San Francisco Union Square’s 46th floor, this beautiful space offers some of the city’s best views as well as delicious cocktails and small plates. Sunset and nighttime panoramas are best enjoyed at one of the seats facing the floor-to-ceiling windows.
To capture the best photos of the Golden Gate Bridge, get to Vista Point. It’s home to the ruins of an old battery that helped protect the city during the early 1900s with a vantage point of the bridge and the bay. It’s a perfect place for a stunning view of the early morning sun rising behind the city.
Stop in at Exploratorium at Pier 15, a warehouse full of interactive exhibits, inventions and curiosities. A great place for a rainy day while getting lost among the several hundred hands-on exhibits.
Explore deep space at the Morrison Planetarium at the city’s California Academy of Science. Under one roof is an aquarium, a natural history museum, and a planetarium. Secure free tickets for Incoming! to take a trip into deep space exploring planets, comets, meteors and learn about NASA’s latest discoveries.

NOTE: Airline fees can and often do exceed the cost of your flight! Additional charges now apply to budget and sale rates on most airlines for a carry-on bag, checked baggage and advance seat assignments. The least expensive fees are charged when these options are purchased during the ticket booking process. Fees climb higher after flights are reserved and even higher when adding these options at airport check-in. Kayak offers the most up-to-date Fees Chart for all domestic and international airlines.

SPECIAL HOTEL & RESORT OFFERS

Austin Motel
Located south of the Colorado River, a historic, quirky motel – circa 1938 – has recently reopened as part of the Bunkhouse group, a local, funky hotel collective with other hotels in Austin and wider Texas. The Austin Motel is located within a 4-minute drive of popular South Congress Avenue and a 6-minute drive from the State Capitol in Austin.
While retaining lots of features such as the original red sign and candy-striped pool umbrellas, the 41 bedrooms, public spaces and 1950s outdoor pool have been updated. A lobby shop and poolside bar have been added, while the old carpark has been changed into a communal space.
Individually decorated single and double rooms include private bathrooms, some with showers only and some with whirlpool tubs. Some suites add a second room and sleep up to 4. White linens adorn beds with orange leather headboards, while the wallpaper, covered in lipstick prints, complements phones in the shape of red lips on bedside tables.
Outdoor amenities include a kidney-shaped swimming pool and free parking.
Nightly rates from $125-$235.
Austin’s historic South Congress Avenue has vintage boutiques and dive bars located side by side with cowboy boot shops and Mexican eateries. It’s also home to one of the city’s most popular music venues, The Continental Club
