Millions of Americans are getting ready to splurge on Black Friday, the largest shopping event of the year. That means they’re getting ready to spend big bucks on TVs, laptops, sofas, coffee makers, anything else that is on sale. What many consumers may not realize is that in addition to some bargain-basement prices, there are quite a few freebies out there this year as well.

For the savvy shopper, Black Friday may well be Free Friday — but it’s up to you to take advantage. We’ve read the fine print on these deals so you don’t have to. Many of the offers are not online and others are not linked from the stores’ websites, so you can’t find them as readily. But we’ve done the hard work for you!

Tons of smaller stores are offering free fidget spinners and the like, but we thought you might want to know what the heavy hitters — the Targets, Macy’s and Walmarts of the world — are offering. Check it out below:

Barnes & Noble — Regardless of whether you buy something or not, the book store is offering free coffee before 10 a.m. on Black Friday. There will be a limit of one per customer, the company says in a news release.

Belk – “At least” the first 150 customers at each store will get a scratch card that’s worth anywhere from $15 to $250, company spokesman Tyler Hampton told Clark.com. On Thanksgiving Day, the store is giving the first 250 customers a gift card valued at $5 to $1,000. “There will be at least one $1,000 winner in every store,” Hampton said.  Doors will open at 4 p.m.

Bon-Ton — “The first 200 customers at the door on Thursday will receive a gift card valued between $5 and $500 with a guaranteed $500 gift card at every store,” the store says.

Cabela’s – They say the early bird gets the worm, and those words will be truer than ever on Black Friday, when outdoors shop Cabela’s offers the first 600 customers in line at 5 a.m. a chance to win gift cards totaling $8,000 in stores.

Field & Stream – One of the first 150 people in line at Field & Stream on Black Friday (or Thanksgiving) will get a chance to win a $500 gift card. See the ad below.

Fred Meyer: Doors open at 5 a.m. at Fred Meyer, where customers will be treated to free coffee, juice and donuts, the retailer says. The first 100 customers will also receive a free gift card, according to Slickdeals.com.

GameStop — GameStop  is advertising a pre-owned Xbox 360 for $59.99 with a mail-in rebate for $59.99. That means you pay zero for the gaming console when you redeem. While the 360 is not exactly a cutting-edge system anymore, it is ideal as a movie and video streaming device for services such as Netflix and Hulu.

JCPenney — The retailer is offering early birds a chance at a $500-off coupon for purchases of $500; a $100-off coupon for purchases of $100 and a $10-off coupons for $10 purchases.

Petco – On Black Friday and Saturday, the pet store will give customers a free pair of cat or dog antlers with every purchase, according to BlackFriday.com.

Shopko — The first 100 holiday customers at stores have a chance to receive $25 in savings, including $10 off home and clothing purchase coupon, valid November 25, and a $15 holiday bonus card, valid throughout the month of December, Shopko spokeswoman Michelle Hansen told Clark.com.

Target — Target is offering a free $300 gift card with the purchase of one of the latest Samsung phones, including the Galaxy S8, S8+, Note 8 and S8 Active.

T-Mobile — Since November 17,  the carrier has been offering a rebate plan that gives customers a free iPhone 8, Samsung Galaxy, or other smartphone of equal or lesser value if they purchase a new line of service. In a news release, T-Mobile says the buy-one, get-one free (BOGO) deal is good if you also sign up for its equipment installment plan.

U.S. Cellular — For six days — from Wednesday, November 22 to November 27 — U.S. Cellular, the fifth-largest full-service wireless carrier in the United States, is offering the iPhone 8 or choice of three other smartphones for free with the purchase of an unlimited data plan and qualifying smartphone turn-in. The other phones offered for free include the Samsung Galaxy S8,  LG G6 and Moto Z Force, according to a news release.

If customers don’t want to trade in their old phones, the company is offering the same four new smartphones for just $10 a month with an unlimited data plan.

Walmart — On Thanksgiving, the retailer is throwing in a free $300 Walmart gift card with the purchase of an iPhone X or Samsung device — but you must sign up for AT&T Next or Verizon as your provider. See the ad below.
