Equifax breach: An overview of what to know and what to do
If you haven’t paid much attention to the recent Equifax data breach, watch the video above to get caught up on all the details and what you can do to protect yourself!
Equifax, one of the nation’s three main credit reporting agencies, announced on September 8 it was the victim of a major hack that exposed the personal information of 143 million U.S. consumers — or two-thirds of all Americans with credit reports.
But in reality, we really have no idea how many people were actually impacted. Equifax’s initial estimate of 143M Americans is exactly that — an estimate — and the truth is that number could actually be a lot higher.
With that said, it’s crucial that all Americans understand what’s going on, the potential impact it could have on them personally and take steps to protect their money and identity from any potential damage.
