If you or an immediate family member serve in the nation’s military or have done so in the past, you may be able to get discounts and other benefits from some of the most popular businesses out there.
In this article, I’ve rounded up information on more than two dozen deals for veterans and active members of the U.S. military.
Top Military Deals For Veterans
These deals are of special significance to money expert Clark Howard, who was a proud member of the Georgia State Defense Force. “Not a day goes by that someone doesn’t thank me for my service,” he says.
In researching this article, when I couldn’t find the deal online I called the stores in my area. I found that many retailers may ask you to show proof of your military status for in-store purchases. For online purchases, the store may ask that you register on its website.
The qualifications typically include one of the following:
- Active duty status in the U.S. Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, Marines, Navy or National Guard
- Veterans of the above services
- Family members of veterans or those serving on active duty
Additionally, in many cases you also need to be registered with ID.me or GovX.com, which are secure digital identity networks that make it easy for you to prove and share your identity with others.

BJ’s
Active and veteran military personnel can enroll in BJ’s membership club for $25 per year rather than paying the regular $55 annual membership fee.
Costco
Costco’s exclusive deal to active and veteran members of the U.S. military is a $30 Shop Card upon membership enrollment, the store says on its website.
HelloFresh
HelloFresh offers exclusive pricing for military members and veterans including 55% off on the first food box for new customers (and 15% off subsequent orders over the next year). The offer applies to new customers only.
Fred Meyer
Fred Meyer offers current military members, veterans and their families 10% off their purchases, according to the store’s website.
Sam’s Club
Sam’s Club offers veterans, active members of the military and their spouses the opportunity to join for 60% off the membership fee. “Verify your military status now and become a member for just $20 after savings,” according to the warehouse chain’s ID.me page.
Computers and Electronics
HP
HP offers military members discounts of up to 40% off as well as free shipping, according to the company’s website.
Apple
Apple offers veterans, active members of the military and immediate family members in their households a 10% discount on its products and accessories.
Microsoft
Microsoft has a 10% discount available on select products and services for veterans and active servicemembers and their families.
Samsung
The Samsung Military Offer program provides up to 30% in savings to veterans, active military members and their families, according to the company’s website.
Home Improvement
Ace Hardware
Depending on the location, Ace Hardware stores may offer a discount on purchases for veterans and active military. When I called three Ace Hardware locations in Atlanta, Georgia, two of them offered a 10% discount, but the other didn’t. Contact your local Ace Hardware to see if it participates in a military discount program.
The Home Depot
The Home Depot offers active members of the armed services and veterans a 10% discount on in-store and online purchases up to $400 every year.
Lowe’s
Lowe’s offers a military discount of 10% at its stores and online when you register for a MyLowe’s account. According to the FAQ section of the company’s website, the discount is good for “most full-price products” found in the store or online.
Sherwin-Williams
Paint manufacturer Sherwin-Williams offers a 15% discount on paints, stains and painting supplies, the company’s website says.
Car Rentals
Many car rental companies have partnered with the Veterans Advantage program, a subscription plan that secures exclusive benefits and discounts for veterans and members of the U.S. armed services and their families. For $4.95, you can sign up for a seven-day trial of Veterans Advantage to try it out. If you decide it’s not for you, be sure to cancel before the trial ends so you won’t incur any more charges.
Avis
If you join the Veterans Advantage program, you can save up to 25% on a car rental.
Budget
Budget also has a 25% discount for members of the Veterans Advantage program.
Dollar
With the Veterans Advantage program, Dollar offers a 5% discount on its rental cars along with a fee waiver for an additional driver or underage driver, according to its website.
Enterprise
Enterprise offers a 5% discount for active military, veterans and government personnel through the Veterans Advantage program as well.
Hertz
Hertz gives Veterans Advantage members up to 10% off its base rates, according to the company website.
Thrifty
Thrifty Car Rental offers a 5% discount to Veterans Advantage members. Active and retired military members also get a free car-class upgrade.
Automotive
Advance Auto Parts
Advance Auto Parts offers 10% off regularly priced items in its stores for active-duty U.S. armed forces members and their families. The discount is also available to certain veterans. Check the company website for details.
O’Reilly Auto Parts
O’Reilly’s military discount is 10% off the retail price of in-store items (except for motor oil, antifreeze, sale items, online purchases, special order items and outside purchase items).
Carparts.com
The online parts store offers a 5% discount on all of its products to all active and retired members of the U.S. armed services.
Jiffy Lube
Jiffy Lube offers a 25% discount off most services to all members of the U.S. armed forces. (The offer excludes Value Oil Change Plus, batteries and brakes, alignment, and diagnostic services.)
Theme Parks
Disney
Active duty members of the U.S. military can get special rates for four- and five-day Disney World tickets for around $350, according to the park’s website.
The military discount applies to the following Disney World Resort theme parks:
- Magic Kingdom
- Animal Kingdom
- EPCOT
- Disney’s Hollywood Studios
At Disneyland, active and retired U.S. military personnel and their spouses can get a deal when they choose between three- and four-day Military Promotional Park Hopper Tickets to visit California Adventure at the following reduced prices:
- 3-Day Military Promotional Park Hopper Ticket: $245
- 4-Day Military Promotional Park Hopper Ticket: $280
The tickets are good through December 15, 2023, and must be picked up at a participating U.S. military base office. See the website for blackout dates.
Six Flags
Six Flags parks offer a 20% military discount for a one-day general admission ticket, according to the company’s website.
SeaWorld
SeaWorld offers active military members and veterans discounts that vary based on the park location.
- SeaWorld San Diego is offering unlimited free admission for active members of the military, their families and veterans through Jan. 2, 2024.
- At SeaWorld Orlando, active duty service members get one complimentary admission per year and can bring up to three dependents. Veterans and up to five guests get 50% off a single-day ticket.
- SeaWorld San Antonio offers active duty service men and women and up to three of their dependents one complimentary admission per year.

Final Thoughts
As you can see, many stores and businesses have programs that honor U.S. military members with deals.
Don’t forget to take advantage of exclusive pricing by joining groups like Veterans Advantage and, if you qualify, AARP.
