Ever wonder what the most popular job in America is?

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) National Occupational Employment and Wage Estimates survey, which is based on May 2015 salary and employment data from a million businesses, the most common job in America is retail salesperson.

But considering the current landscape of the retail industry, that could soon change — with companies continuing to close more and more traditional brick-and-mortar stores as they face the growing threat of online shopping.

Business Insider took a closer look at the BLS data to come up with a list of the most popular jobs in the U.S. and the average annual salary workers in those positions make.
